Reinstall Microsoft Edge on Windows 10

Note: Create a system restore point before performing this step.

  1. First of all, Press Windows + E, View and tick mark on Show hidden items.

  2. Now Go to C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Local\Packages. Replace YourUserName with your own username.

  3. Now, Find the folder named Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe or something like this.

  4. Delete All data inside this folder. This folder may still remain in that location. But make sure, This folder is empty.

  1. Open Start Menu and type powershell. It’ll automatically start searching for the program and will show PowerShell in search results.right-click on PowerShell and select the “Run as Administrator” option.

Then Enter the following command that will reinstall all the modern apps in Windows :

  1. Get-AppxPackage -allusers | foreach {Add-AppxPackage -register “$($_.InstallLocation)\appxmanifest.xml” -DisableDevelopmentMode}

Run DISM and System file checker

Try to run the DISM command and System File Checker (SFC) scan to repair the system image and check for any file corruption. Also, It detects incorrect manifests, cabinets or registry data, it may replace the incorrect data with the corrected version available. Follow the steps.

  1. Type cmd on start menu search

  2. From search results Right-click on the Command prompt and select (Run as administrator).

  3. In the Administrator: Command Prompt window, type the following commands. Press the Enter key after each command:

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

This will take some time to complete the scanning process After complete 100% perform command sfc /scannow to run the system file checker utility that scans for corrupted system files if found any SFC utility automatically restore them from a compressed folder located on %WinDir%\System32\dllcache After complete 100% scanning process restart windows and check this will fix Microsoft edge browser problems include different system errors

Check with another User account

Also, You may check the same issue with the new user account. Try these steps to create a new user account and check if it fixes the issue. Refer to the steps below to create a new User Account:

  1. Go to Settings, Choose Accounts and then select Other User Accounts towards the left.

  2. Select Add an Account, Enter a username, and hit Next.

  3. Click on Finish.

  4. Sign out from the current Account and Log into the new account.

  5. Check if the issue persists.
